Kendejah is a LIBERIAN restaurant. The history of Liberia is that it was a home for slaved who returned to Africa upon their freedom, so the cuisine is a mix of African transplanted to the US South, southern-ized, and returned to Africa for another 100 years or so. A fascinating melange of flavors! The owner is quite personable, he was happy to chat with us about the menu and the offerings. Before we ordered, he displayed a large whole fish platter he was serving to another table. LARGE is the operative word, it looked delicious. OF the three of us, none were interested in tackling that big a portion, the other table was two people and they did not finish it. I chose fried eggplant served with rice; it was fried and mashed and mixed with smoked turkey and other meat into a delicious and rich gravy, served with a mound of white rice. One chose the Ox-Tail, served with rice and black beans, and the third chose Jollof Rice, a mixture of rice, red beans and ?tomato?, served with fish & chicken and multiple veggies. We shared and cross tasted, each of the three dishes were quite good; I'd have been happy with any of them. Kendejah has an interesting menu. There are two or three choices for each day of the week, plus a page of items which are available every day. They serve beer and various non-alcoholic drinks, I choose the GINGER drink. The server warned me "it is strong" well it was and it was perfect: Think the best Ginger Ale you ever had, but 5X more intensely GINGER, and without carbonation. We were too full to even think about dessert. Pelton Center is an old strip shopping center, apparently, that is now mostly a food court. Parking was easy. I rated it as "cheap eats", Our bill, with an appetizer of plantains and with beer and two non-alcoholic drinks was $78, tip included.

A restaurant with lots of personality due to the owner, Doug and serving Liberian cuisine. Small everyday menu with multiple daily specials each day. Menu items include oxtail stew (3 pieces regular and 6 pieces with large size), jollof rice with chicken, chicken/fish (snapper) wrapped in cassava leaves, vegetarian specials, etc. A place to try when you want something a little different.
