Makiyaki

w/ Bento boxes for nice variety at lunch or dinner, good value for what you pay and what you get. Would recommend this for all ages, tastes.

I like sushi, but as a vegetarian, it doesn't always work out so well. I like cucumber, but spending $10+ for some rice and cukes seems pretty not worth it. So I appreciate when a sushi place has some veggie options. It's unusual for that to happen somewhere so traditional. This place feels like a rainy day on a 1960's japanese movie set...in a good way. The bento boxes are very generous, and the staff is kind and warm. I appreciate a sushi place that is not aggressively loud or hip. The perfect calm end to a day where you just don't feel like cooking.

Makiyaki is a fall back place for me in San Leandro. They have a very traditional menu that is nicely prepared. My only criticism is they use surimi in the middle of there rainbow roll, but otherwise food is fresh.
